Local Gate Service designs, fabricates and installs custom gates for residential and commercial properties across the Bay Area. Driveway gates, pedestrian gates and building entry gates are built to the measurements of the opening, in the design, material and finish chosen for the property.
Our crew fabricates gates in our shops and installs them on site. When part of an existing gate or entry can still be used, we look at that option before building everything new.
Gates Built for Your Property

Driveway Gate
Single swing, double swing, sliding and telescopic gates, built for manual use or automated fabrication set up.

Pedestrian & Entry gates
Side yard, backyard, front entry and stair gates, often designed to match the driveway gate or the fence line.

Security gates for buildings
Entry gates for multi-unit residential and commercial properties, fitted for closers, lock boxes and access control hardware.
Some projects involve more than the gate itself. When the layout calls for it, we can also fabricate matching fence sections, enclosures or handrails so the entrance works together as one complete design. In one perimeter project, the final layout combined a sliding driveway gate, a telescopic gate and a security fence as one coordinated installation.
How a Custom Gate Project Moves From Design to Installation

1
First conversation.
We go over what the gate is for, how it will be used, the design in mind and the budget.
2
Visit site + Walk trough.
We measure the opening, review the existing posts, fence and hardware, and confirm the design details.
3
Fabrication.
The gate is fabricated in our shops. We coordinate powder coating with an outside finishing shop.
4
Installation.
If needed, we remove the existing gate before installing and adjusting the new one. Its operation is checked before we leave.
5
Automation & Other needs.
If the gate will be automated, the gate automation work is planned with the fabrication. When a project also involves contractors, landscapers or electricians, we coordinate our part of the work with theirs.
The timeline depends on the design, the materials, the finish and any work that must be coordinated with other specific needs on the project.

Gate Materials, Galvanizing and Powder Coat Finishes
The material affects the gate’s look, weight, performance, maintenance and budget.
For that reason, most projects start with a steel frame, then we choose the finish or infill based on the property and how the gate will be used. Depending on the design, we work with wood, composite and vinyl. When the project calls for it, we can also coordinate powder coating or galvanizing.
Design Options Built Around the Property
A custom gate should fit the property, not fight it. We design around the opening, the slope, the fence line and the overall look of the entrance. Some clients want a practical and straightforward solution, while others want a more detailed or architectural result.

Every project has their own needs. We can also coordinate 2D design previews, laser-cut elements or specialty woodwork through outside professionals.
When Your Existing Gate Can Be Modified
Not every gate project starts from zero. If the existing gate or entry can be modified, reinforced or reworked, we look at that first.
On-site and shop welding can be part of repairs, structural adjustments or functional modifications when the existing structure is still worth keeping.
When the frame or layout no longer works for the property, we explain why a new build is the better long-term option.

FAQs
It depends on the project. The design, the materials, the finish and any work coordinated with other trades all affect the schedule. Powder coating, laser cut panels and elaborate woodwork each add a step. We go over the expected timeline once the design and finish are defined.
Most repair calls are on gates built or installed by someone else. Diagnosis is based on the condition of the gate in front of us, not on who built it.
